Emergency Information
Dear Parents:
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY GO TO
THE VINAL SCHOOL, 102 OLD OAKEN BUCKET ROAD, NORWELL (corner of Summer and Old
Oaken Bucket). Please DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL.
As the public discussion of threats and preparedness increases, we want to
assure you that caring for your children is our primary concern and that we have
extensive plans in place to respond to emergencies that might occur in camp and
in our region of the country. Those plans proscribe quick, responsible
assessment and implementation focused on the safety of our students and adults.
In the event of an emergency situation we will use radio, television, website (www.meadowcroftcamp.com), phone calls and public address systems to alert parents and campers immediately and direct them to do the following :
We will begin by gathering everyone in the Intermediate Field (closest to Bowker Street) where we can provide instructions about what to do next. If an emergency occurs in this region, rather than at camp, we will follow directions given by the local fire and police departments. Should it be necessary, we have plans in place for evacuation and transportation to the Vinal School in Norwell at 102 Old Oaken Bucket Road (corner of Summer and Old Oaken Bucket). Please do not call the school.
In all cases, our crisis team—a named group of senior counselors—will assist us in making those determinations that can only be made at the time of an event. A staff member will stay in camp to account for and to care for any campers.
In the event of an emergency, PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE CAMP, as that line should be kept free for emergency communication. As a matter of policy, in a high-level emergency we will release campers only to their parents.
Needless to say, we can make thorough and reasonable plans, but we cannot predict every potential disaster. You can trust that we will act with the safety of your children as our first priority. In addition, we believe that achieving a prudent level of awareness and readiness among our adults in camp will help keep anxiety in check and keep us focused on the great work that goes on in camp.
Sincerely,
MEADOWCROFT DAY CAMP
